During an individual session we work collaboratively to recognize needs, find your voice, identify goals and aspirations.
Primary to my practice is the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), whether that be engaging in reprocessing or weaving the the concepts into talk therapy. Additionally I also utilize an eclectic mix of therapeutic modalities such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), the ARC (Attachment, Regulation&Competency) model, and mindfulness strategies. Also, play therapy, sensory tools, somatic practices, and art modalities may be part of sessions.

I have extensive experience working with pre-teens, adolescents, and adults. Specialized training in treating trauma. I enjoy working with a range of clientele including youth (8-12), adolescents (13-17), and adults (18 and up).

Lastly, I am a trained Divine Sleep© Yoga Nidra guide, love herbalism and the outdoors!

Looking forward to speaking with you!

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Quite the name, huh?
The basic gist is that both hemispheres of the brain are engaged in bilateral movement. These bilateral movements may do something similar to what happens during the REM sleep cycle. When in the REM cycle, it is postulated that the brain is sorting through information and "filing" it in the long term memory, short term memory, or to discard what we may not need to keep. Bilateral movement occurs by engaging in eye movements, tapping, auditory sounds, vibration, or even something such as walking or drumming. During this phase of EMDR, we are taxing the working memory and creating dual awareness of the past and present at the same time. In doing so, we can adaptively reprocess "stuck" material such as thoughts, memories, body sensations, and negative beliefs about ourselves and the world related to the incident(s) that occurred. Therefore, EMDR is a modality which is a bit less talk based, and a little more more internal processing using the mind and body.

EMDR is an Evidenced Based Treatment, meaning if has been widely researched to be effective in treating Mental heath disorders such as PTSD.
